Tips n°9 : How your family can you help ?

To go to University, you need to do a very good Matric. Please show this advice to your family and discuss with them how they can help you

1. You need time to study
This year, your mother should not ask you to do household chores, or as little as possible. You should spend less time watching TV, hanging out with friends and doing outside activities such as choirs and sports.

2. You need quiet to study
Ask your family to turn down the TV and your family members, even your neighbours, to make less noise when your child is studying. One day, if you get a good job, it will be you turn to help your community…

3. Your need a room to study

If you share a room, ask your siblings to stay outside of the room when you study. If it is not possible, study at a library or at school, after hours.Or check with your Church if they have a quiet space available.

4. You need to sleep
If you study long hours at night, you will feel so tired during the day that you will not concentrate at school.. Scientific studies have proven that you need to sleep well to remember what you have learnt.
When you study, try to take a break every 2 hours (at least 15 minutes) to refresh your mind : have a short nap, listen to music, eat, exercise, socialise during this break.Eat healthy food and drink lots of water.

5. You need to be relax

Some matric learners are scared to fail and disappoint their family. Talk to your parents if you feel that they put too much pressure on you : tell them your difficulties, your career’s choice, etc

Parents support is very important !!

I noticed that some of the learners are getting pressure from family members to get into certain careers.

The most important thing is to follow your dreams, do what you love and reach for the stars - the is so much out there for you! You have a choice, use that right!
