Cassius Maluleke, top learner from Kwa Behkilanga

Congratulations to Cassius ! Our "Sizanani" mentee was among the 2 top matriculants of Alexandra. Cassius Maluleke of Kwa-Bhekilanga High received a R50,000  bursary from Vincent Tshabalala Education Trust.
In total, 17 bursaries were awarded (including 13 of R30 000) by the chairperson of the Trust and minister of Arts and Culture, Paul Mashatile (born in Alex), during a ceremony, on Jan 23.

“Many of them have been raised by single mothers with no hope of a brighter future. They have defied all odds”, said Mashatile. The Trust has to date awarded a total of 91 students with bursaries.

“It came as a surprise to me. This will help me to study my degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Johannesburg,” said Maluleke.  We are excited by the improvement in the pass rate of Kwabhekilanga  from 49% to 70%”. The learners from our school got 9 distinctions”.
