Realogile, top school of Alex

Realogile school pocketed a 50 000 R check, thanks to the Vincent Tshabalala Fund. It achieved the best Matric past rate (74 % from 65 %  in 2011) in Alex. Minerva lost its 2011 crowne and achieved a 69 % pass rate. But it stayed number 1 for the number of distinctions.

Ivan Pillay, a Fund donator and deputy commissioner of SARS, Dumisani Mbatha, principal of Realogile, trustee Mxolisi Zwane and Trust chairman  Minister of Arts Paul Matshatile
The overall pass rate (66 % ) in Alex remains lower than the 83 % averadge in Gauteng. Among the 726 learners who wrote Matric exams (612 in 2011), 476 passed (393 in 2011).. and 248 failed, which is still too much ! Only 155 achieved a distinction exemption (+63) and 200, a diploma level (+33). 53 got distinctions (+15) mostly in Life orientation...

“The teachers and the learners must be in class on time and for the entire school day,” stressed Paul Mashatile, minister of Arts and culture and chairperson of the Fund, who added that “hard work does not start in Gr 12 and parents must take a keen interest in the studies of their children”.
