Allan Gray Orbis bursaries with mentoring program


Apply for an Allan Gray Orbis foundation bursary before end April 2013 if you are a bright Grade 12 or first year student

Who can apply ?
If you are in Grade 12 : you must have a minimum of B average  for Grade 11 results and minimum C in Math (deadline to apply  : 30 April 2013)
If you are in 1st year at Varsity :you need to have an averadge of 65 % at your June results (deadline to apply : end of August)
You must also show  qualities to become a leader  (“imagination, initiative, selflessness, commitment and excellence),

What does the bursary cover ? tuition, residence, book and living allowance, without any conditions attached) for universities studies (Wits, UJ, UP, Cape Town). From 3rd year : you’ll be  part of the fellowship program (mentoring by professionals)

studies : degrees in  Engineering, Law and Humanities (majoring in Politics, Economics or Philosophy), Science (excluding Medicine) or Commerce

Last year, 87 scholarships were awarded, 85 % to Black learners. More than 1000 applications were received
Selection : application (a lot of them are rejected because documents are missing !), interviews, selection camps  for 3 weeks during last term (a “transformation experience” in itself
